Watching Atiku Abubakar and Rauf Aregbesola position themselves as aggrieved victims fleeing a political crisis is nothing short of breathtaking, considering that the very crisis driving them out is one they had a significant hand in masterminding.
These are not innocent bystanders caught in a storm. These are seasoned political architects who have spent decades perfecting the art of infiltrating, destabilising, and ultimately abandoning every political platform that no longer serves their personal ambitions — leaving wreckage behind for ordinary members and loyal supporters to clean up.
And now, as they prepare to march into the NDC with great fanfare, one cannot help but issue this solemn warning: wherever these political locusts land, the pattern never changes. They arrive, consolidate power around their cronies, systematically chase away genuine stakeholders, and hollow out the party from within — until the next convenient exit presents itself.
Nigeria’s political problem is not just about bad governance. It is about the recycling of the same self-serving political elite who treat parties as personal vehicles and voters as seasonal tools.
The NDC and its genuine members should take careful note.
