UMUAHIA, ABIA STATE — APC chieftain Sir Mark Ugorji has declared his intention to contest the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat in 2027, promising grassroots projects and questioning incumbent Obi Aguocha’s impact .
Addressing party stakeholders at his hometown in Olokoro-Ukwu, Umuahia South LGA, over the weekend, Ugorji positioned himself as a man of action, promising a departure from what he termed ineffective representation .
“I am a man of little words; I believe in action,” Ugorji declared. He recounted his humble beginnings as the son of a palm wine tapper, stating that his life’s trajectory of progress is what he intends to replicate for the constituency .
The aspirant, who described himself as a member of Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu’s “kitchen cabinet,” took a direct swipe at the Labour Party lawmaker. Ugorji challenged constituents to verify where current constituency projects are being executed .
“You can ask Obi Aguocha where constituency projects are being implemented. But I assure you, if elected, we will implement projects here. We will stop going to Bende to receive palliatives,” he stated emphatically .
Ugorji expressed confidence in clinching the APC ticket and ultimately winning the general election, which he described as a potential “walkover” if given the party’s nod .
Party stakeholder Chief Emmanuel Egwu endorsed Ugorji’s consultation approach, describing him as “a round peg in a round hole,” while Dr. Ndukwe Adindu encouraged the aspirant to widen his consultations across the constituency .
