UMUAHIA, ABIA STATE — Former member of the House of Representatives and ex-Commissioner representing the Southeast at the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Rt. Hon. Sam Onuigbo, has intensified his quest for the Abia Central Senatorial ticket with a strategic visit to stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Umuahia North Local Government Area .
Onuigbo, who serves as the President-designate of GLOBE Legislators International and will soon be inaugurated at the Churchill Hall of the United Kingdom Parliament, was officially introduced to the gathering by the Chairman of Umuahia North APC Stakeholders, Rt. Hon. Stanley Ohajuruka.
Addressing the stakeholders, the former federal lawmaker stated that his visit was to formally seek their support in securing the votes of delegates ahead of the party primaries. His ambition, he noted, is to represent the six local government areas that make up Abia Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly come 2027.
Onuigbo used the opportunity to present a detailed scorecard of his achievements while serving as the Representative for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber. Among the landmark projects he highlighted were:
1· Reconstruction of the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene Federal Road, a critical artery linking Abia State to Akwa Ibom.
2· Attraction of the Federal Secretariat in Abia State, achieved after over 34 years of the state’s creation.
3· Restoration of delisted Management Sciences programmes at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU).
4· Execution of major erosion control works across vulnerable communities within the constituency.
The aspirant vowed to sustain and expand his developmental strides using the acronym EAR — promising Effective, Accessible, and Responsive representation if entrusted with the party’s ticket .
The highpoint of the visit was the presentation of his magazine titled “Onuigbo,” which chronicles his political journey and legislative accomplishments. The publication was received on behalf of the stakeholders by the leader of the Umuahia North APC body .
The consultation is expected to continue across the remaining four local government areas of the senatorial district, following earlier visitations to Ikwuano LGA and Umuahia North LGA, as the race for the 2027 ticket gathers momentum .
