Chief Ikechukwu Henry Ikoh has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 Abia State governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the party’s state headquarters in Umuahia this afternoon.
Ikoh, who serves as the Abia State Coordinator for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative, made the declaration before party faithful, supporters, and members of the general public who gathered to witness the historic announcement.
The declaration signals a bold political step for the grassroots mobiliser, who has been widely credited with championing President Tinubu’s support base across Abia State.
Addressing supporters, Chief Ikoh called on the general public to embrace his vision for a new Abia, promising to leverage his closeness to the Federal Government to attract development and transform the state if elected governor.
His entry into the governorship race is expected to energise the APC structure in Abia ahead of a competitive 2027 general election.
