Protest in Epe as APC Primary Aspirant Challenges Results, Ward M1 Election Cancelled Over Irregularities

The All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary for Epe Federal Constituency in Lagos State was thrown into controversy on Saturday, as an aspirant raised serious objections over alleged electoral irregularities that ultimately led to the cancellation of results in one ward.

One of the aspirants in the House of Representatives primary election for Epe Federal Constituency, BIA Eruobodo, challenged collation officials over alleged irregularities recorded in Ward M1 during the exercise, raising objections and protesting what he described as questionable actions that undermined the credibility of the voting process in the ward.

The protest reportedly created tension among supporters and party stakeholders present at the venue as electoral officials reviewed complaints and reports relating to the conduct of the exercise. Following the complaints and subsequent deliberations by party officials, the election process in the ward was eventually cancelled pending further directives from the party leadership

Party stakeholders and security personnel later intervened to calm the situation and appealed to supporters of all aspirants to remain peaceful while allowing due process to take its course.

The Epe crisis is part of a wider pattern of protests and allegations that trailed Saturday’s APC Reps primaries across the country. In Lagos Mainland, allegations of widespread irregularities, voter intimidation and disruption of the electoral process were reported across several voting centres, with aggrieved party members calling on the APC leadership to investigate and ensure justice for all aspirants.

The APC leadership is yet to issue a formal response on the Epe incident, as affected aspirants are expected to explore the party’s appeal process scheduled for later in the month.
