Lagos Police Bust ‘One Chance’ Robbery Gang, Arrest Suspects, Recover Tricycle and Stolen Phones

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested suspected members of a dangerous ‘one chance’ robbery syndicate that has been preying on unsuspecting commuters across major routes in the state, recovering an operational tricycle allegedly used in their crimes.

The suspects were apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation along Iyana-Ipaja Road, where police operatives intercepted a tricycle conveying three occupants for inspection. During the search, one of the occupants was allegedly found in possession of three android phones suspected to have been stolen from victims of the gang’s robbery operations.

The tricycle rider suddenly fled the scene while the search was ongoing, abandoning the other occupants. One of the suspects was immediately arrested and identified as Ademola Ibrahim, who during interrogation confessed to being a member of a robbery syndicate specialising in dispossessing unsuspecting commuters of their valuables, particularly mobile phones, along Idimu, Iyana-Ipaja, Egbeda and Dopemu areas.

Further investigation later led to the arrest of the fleeing tricycle rider, identified as 26-year-old Raheem Lawal. Police also recovered the operational tricycle bearing registration number SMK 309 QP allegedly used by the suspects to carry out their criminal activities.

Two victims who had earlier reported incidents of ‘one chance’ robbery along the affected axis positively identified the suspects as members of the gang and also identified their stolen phones recovered from them. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and bring them to justice. dailytrust
