The All Progressives Congress (APC) concluded its nationwide House of Representatives primaries on Saturday across all 360 federal constituencies, producing a mix of high-profile winners and controversial disqualifications ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ahead of the primaries, the party disqualified 14 aspirants from contesting across Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi and Rivers states. National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka disclosed that the aspirants failed to scale the party’s screening exercise. Among those disqualified were four serving House of Representatives members — Iduma Igariwey from Ebonyi State, Anderson Allison, Awaji-Inombek Abiante, and Boma Goodhead, all from Rivers State.
Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, emerged as the unopposed APC candidate for Agege Federal Constituency, with party delegates across all 13 political wards unanimously endorsing his candidature at the Saturday primary.
In Katsina State, Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, secured the APC ticket for Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency with 6,386 votes, defeating his opponent, Auwal Daura — son of former DSS Director-General Lawal Musa Daura — who polled 322 votes.
House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas emerged unopposed as the APC candidate for Zaria Federal Constituency in Kaduna State following an affirmation exercise, while in Delta State, former Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu defeated incumbent lawmaker Ngozi Okolie to clinch the Oshimili South Federal Constituency ticket.
The primaries were not without controversy, as violence and protests erupted in parts of Kaduna and Adamawa states, while allegations of irregularities trailed the exercise in Ondo State.
