780 Arrested, 219 Injured After Champions League Riots in France

French authorities have confirmed that 780 people were arrested and 219 injured after the Champions League riots in France following Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.

The match, which PSG won on penalties, triggered violent clashes between rival fans and security forces in central Paris. Rioters set vehicles ablaze, smashed shop windows, and launched projectiles at police.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said 320 of the injured were officers, while the remaining 219 included fans and bystanders. He described the violence as “unacceptable and premeditated by organised hooligan groups.”

Arsenal and PSG have both condemned the unrest, urging supporters to prioritise safety.

French police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse crowds. Over 2,000 officers have been deployed across the capital.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing, with foreign nationals among those detained. The French government is reviewing stadium security protocols ahead of future international fixtures.
