Adeleke, Accord, APC Clash Over Iwo Violence: Blame Game Intensifies

A fresh political firestorm has erupted in Osun State as Adeleke, Accord, APC clash over Iwo violence that left several persons injured and properties destroyed over the weekend.

The violence, which broke out during a political procession in Iwo town, has triggered a war of words among the three parties, each pointing accusing fingers at the others.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, through his spokesperson, blamed opposition thugs for instigating the attack, alleging that Accord and APC members “stormed the town with weapons to disrupt peace.”

But the Accord Party quickly fired back, accusing Adeleke’s loyalists of launching a preemptive strike on their supporters. The APC, in a separate statement, dismissed the governor’s claims as “lies from a panicked administration.”

“Governor Adeleke has lost control of security in Osun. He should resign if he cannot protect citizens,” an APC chieftain said.

The state Police Command has confirmed an investigation is underway, though no arrests have been announced.

Residents of Iwo remain on edge, with many shops and schools closed as a precaution.
