Anambra Government Arraigns Eight Alleged Fake Pastors Over Law Violations

Among those arraigned is Emeka Nwamkpa, alongside seven others accused of operating in breach of provisions established by the state government.

Authorities said the action forms part of ongoing efforts to sanitize religious practices and ensure compliance with regulations designed to protect residents from fraudulent activities carried out under the guise of religious worship.

The defendants were brought before the court on charges related to alleged violations of relevant state laws. However, the accused persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by the court.

The state government maintained that its enforcement measures are aimed at promoting accountability and public trust within religious institutions while safeguarding citizens from exploitation.

The case has been adjourned for further proceedings as the court begins consideration of the allegations against the defendants.
