The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports that he deliberately skipped the Council of State meeting, clarifying that President Bola Tinubu permitted his absence.
Wike refuted claims that his no-show was due to dissatisfaction with the appointment of the new INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan. He labeled these reports as “mischievous propaganda.”
Speaking at a project commissioning in Abuja, the Minister explained he had prior engagements and had delegated the Minister of State to represent him.
I had already told Mr President that I would not be available,” Wike stated. “They said I did not attend because I was not happy that my own nominee was not taken. That is not true.”
He reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu, crediting the administration’s “right leadership” for the achievements in the FCT.
