Deported Migrant Returns to UK on Small Boat, Challenging Government Policy

LONDON – A migrant deported to France under a new UK returns agreement has been detained after illegally re-entering Britain on a small boat, a government source confirmed Wednesday.

The man, an Iranian national, was removed to France on September 19. He reportedly told authorities he returned because he did not feel “safe” in France and claimed to be a victim of modern slavery.

His return poses a direct challenge to the UK’s “one-in, one-out” deal with Paris. The agreement allows London to send back migrants who arrive via small boats after passing through the safe country of France.

A spokesperson for the Interior Ministry stated, “We will not accept any abuse of our borders. Individuals who are returned and subsequently attempt to re-enter the UK illegally will be removed.”

The incident comes as the new government faces significant pressure to reduce Channel crossings and overall migration numbers.
