FG’s Response to Oyo School Abduction Not Slow — Presidency

The Presidency has strongly defended the Federal Government’s handling of the recent school abduction in Oyo State, firmly rejecting widespread criticism that authorities were slow to respond to the shocking incident that rattled the nation.

In an official statement, the Presidency insisted that security agencies moved swiftly and decisively upon receiving intelligence about the abduction, dismissing as unfair and inaccurate the narrative that the government was sluggish in its response to the crisis.

The statement urged Nigerians and the media to rely on verified facts rather than speculative reports, stressing that the Federal Government remains deeply committed to the safety and security of every Nigerian citizen — particularly school children.
“The Federal Government’s response was neither slow nor inadequate. Security agencies were immediately mobilised and have been working round the clock to ensure the safe return of all victims,” the Presidency stated.

The abduction, which sent waves of fear through Oyo State and reignited national debate about school safety and the urgent need for state police, had drawn sharp criticism from lawmakers, civil society groups, and concerned Nigerians who demanded faster and more visible government action.

The Presidency further assured parents, guardians, and the general public that all necessary resources and intelligence assets have been deployed to bring the situation to a swift and safe resolution.
