House of Representatives Names Fred Agbedi Minority Leader, Dasuki as Deputy

The House of Representatives has officially named Hon. Fred Agbedi as the new Minority Leader and Hon. Dasuki as Deputy Minority Leader, sources confirmed on Thursday.

The appointment fills the leadership vacuum in the opposition caucus following recent changes in the House leadership structure. Agbedi, a seasoned lawmaker from Bayelsa State, brings years of legislative experience to the role.

Hon. Dasuki, from Sokoto State, will serve as his deputy, tasked with coordinating opposition strategies and providing checks on the ruling party’s agenda in the Green Chamber.

The announcement is expected to unify opposition lawmakers ahead of key legislative business, including the ongoing constitution amendment debates and the State Police bill slated for a vote.

Neither Agbedi nor Dasuki has issued an official statement as of press time. However, sources within the opposition caucus described the new leadership as “capable, experienced, and ready to hold the executive accountable.”

The ruling APC has yet to react to the new opposition lineup.
