APC Intensifies Reconciliation Efforts to Douse Post-Primaries Tension in Seven States

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced moves to address post-primary election grievances and reconcile aggrieved members in seven states following the conclusion of its party primaries.

The party’s leadership is said to be engaging stakeholders, aspirants, and party loyalists in an effort to prevent internal divisions from affecting its chances in forthcoming elections.

According to party sources, reconciliation committees have been mandated to interface with dissatisfied aspirants and their supporters to resolve disputes arising from the conduct and outcomes of the primaries.

The initiative is aimed at promoting unity within the ruling party and ensuring that members close ranks ahead of future political contests.

Political observers note that post-primary disagreements are common in Nigeria’s political landscape, often stemming from allegations of irregularities, imposition of candidates, and dissatisfaction with internal party processes.

The APC leadership has reportedly appealed to aggrieved members to embrace dialogue and utilise the party’s internal mechanisms for dispute resolution rather than resorting to actions capable of weakening the party’s structure.

The move is expected to test the party’s ability to manage competing interests while maintaining cohesion across its various state chapters.

As of the time of filing this report, the APC had not publicly disclosed the identities of all seven states involved in the reconciliation process.
