MUBI – Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to educational transformation, announcing sweeping reforms during the combined convocation ceremony of Adamawa State University (ADSU).
The ceremony celebrated 9,225 graduates across three academic sessions, with 42 students achieving First Class Honours. Governor Fintiri described the graduates’ achievements as “a beacon of hope for a better society” and emphasized that “education remains the only hope for the ordinary man.”
Highlighting key initiatives under his Eight-Point Recalibrated Agenda, the Governor unveiled “Project Wings,” a foreign scholarship program that will send 100 students to Turkey immediately, with another 200 proceeding to Australia and Canada by January 2026.
Other major announcements included:
· Construction of mega science and technical schools across all 21 local government areas
· Establishment of Adamawa State College of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Studies (COTIES) in Gulak, commencing January 2026
· Recruitment of 5,000 new teachers
· New infrastructural projects at ADSU including internal roads, perimeter fence, and faculties of Law, Engineering, and Medicine
The Governor also stressed the need to tie professorial promotions to research that addresses real-world problems, moving beyond purely academic publications.
