Aisha Yesufu Slams APC Over Cash Sharing at Nasarawa Empowerment Programme

ABUJA — Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has condemned the distribution of cash to supporters at an empowerment programme organised by Maryam Wadada, wife of the Nasarawa State All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Senator Ahmed Wadada .

CDA News Nigeria gathered that Yesufu reacted to a viral video showing Maryam sharing cash to attendees at the programme, posting on her official X handle to express her frustration .

CDA News Nigeria reports that Yesufu questioned the value placed on the cash handouts compared to the cost of essential needs such as school fees, rent and hospital bills . “You see this money the people there are receiving? They value it more than the hundreds of thousands you use to pay their children’s school fees, pay their rents and hospital bills,” she wrote .

She further accused taxpayers of subsidising governance that allows political actors to distribute cash without accountability . “Do you know that you are the ones subsidizing governance for APC to do this freely without the people going after them?” she asked .

The activist’s comments come amid growing concerns over the monetisation of politics and the use of cash handouts to influence voters ahead of upcoming elections . The video has sparked widespread debate on social media about the ethics of political cash distribution and its implications for democratic processes .
