LONDON — Arsenal are reportedly considering a sensational late move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as the Premier League champions continue to explore attacking options before the transfer window closes .
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the Gunners have endured a difficult summer in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements, having missed out on Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr, while potential moves for Julian Alvarez and Bradley Barcola are also appearing increasingly difficult to complete .
CDA News Nigeria reports that Osimhen’s name emerged during broader discussions between Arsenal and Galatasaray regarding the futures of Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri, who have been made available for transfer . The Turkish club has reportedly tabled a £38.4 million bid for Martinelli and expressed interest in Nwaneri, prompting talks between the clubs’ sporting directors .
Arsenal have maintained a long-standing interest in Osimhen dating back over a decade to when former manager Arsène Wenger attempted to sign him following his performance at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup . The 27-year-old has since established himself as one of Europe’s most devastating finishers, scoring 59 goals in 74 appearances across two campaigns and spearheading Galatasaray to back-to-back Turkish Süper Lig titles .
However, any move would face significant obstacles. Galatasaray recently rejected a €130 million verbal offer from Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal and are reportedly unwilling to negotiate the striker’s departure . Securing Osimhen would also require a massive financial outlay, with the club having signed him permanently from Napoli for €75 million last summer .
