Gov’s Aide, Ex-Commissioner, Loyalists Emerge as APC Reps Candidates Across Katsina Constituencies

The All Progressives Congress has wrapped up its House of Representatives primaries across several federal constituencies in Katsina State, with a blend of direct election winners and consensus candidates emerging ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In Mani/Bindawa Federal Constituency, Special Assistant to Governor Dikko Radda on Girl Child Education, Hajiya Jamila Abdu Mani, secured victory after polling 24,989 votes against her closest rival’s 1,256 votes. Her emergence was hailed as a boost for women’s representation in Katsina politics.

In Kankara/Faskari/Sabuwa Federal Constituency, former two-time Commissioner for Environment, Hamza Sule Faskari, was adopted as the APC consensus candidate following a stakeholders’ rally in Kankara where party leaders unanimously affirmed his candidacy.

Meanwhile, Governor Radda’s loyalist, Usman Murtala Banye, emerged the APC consensus candidate for the Rimi/Charanchi/Batagarawa Federal Constituency after two other aspirants withdrew from the race, with the governor personally raising Banye’s hand at the event.

Governor Radda described the consensus arrangements as a demonstration of party unity and internal democracy, adding that all aspirants voluntarily agreed to the formula in line with the Electoral Act ahead of the 2027 elections.
