Operatives of the Anambra Homeland Security Force have crushed a criminal hideout in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area, arresting a man accused of supplying arms to the notorious “Okija boys” terrorising the community.
The Anambra Homeland Security crush criminal hideout in a targeted operation at Okakij, where they discovered a cache of guns at the suspect’s residence.
According to security sources, the raid was part of the ongoing enforcement of the Anambra State Homeland Security Law, which empowers the government to dismantle criminal networks and confiscate properties linked to illegal activities .
The arrested suspect is believed to be a major supplier of firearms to the gang responsible for the rampant snatching of motorcycles and other crimes in the Ihiala area, including Okija .
Security operatives recovered several firearms from his home. The suspect remains in custody and is expected to face charges upon conclusion of investigations.
The state government has intensified crackdowns on criminal hideouts and fake native doctors in the region, which have been linked to fueling crime .
