Oyo Demolishes Three Buildings Linked to Criminal Activity, Arms Cache

The Oyo State Government has demolished three buildings in Ibadan allegedly used as a hideout for storing a large cache of arms and ammunition .

The buildings, comprising a storey structure and two bungalows within a fenced compound on Arubiewe Road, Gbenku community, off Olodo-Garage in Ibadan, were pulled down on Tuesday on the directive of Governor Seyi Makinde .

Speaking at the scene, the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Mr Mojeed Mogbonjubola, said security agencies uncovered the weapons during an ongoing investigation . “Shortly after previous security operations, this location was identified as a major storage point for arms and ammunition, including sophisticated weapons,” he stated .

The commissioner noted that the Oyo demolishes three buildings linked to criminal activity after the state Commissioner of Police submitted a detailed report to Governor Makinde .

Mogbonjubola declared that the state government would not treat security issues with levity, adding that the demolition serves as a deterrent to criminal elements . He urged residents to remain vigilant and advised landlords to thoroughly screen prospective tenants before renting out properties .
