Ex-Aviation Minister Stella Oduah Arraigned Over Alleged ₦2.4 Billion Fraud

ABUJA — The Federal Government on Wednesday arraigned former Minister of Aviation Senator Stella Oduah before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory over allegations of fraud amounting to ₦2.4 billion.

Oduah was charged alongside Gloria Odita on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence, and criminal breach of trust.

The prosecution, led by the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, alleged that in January and February 2014, the defendants fraudulently obtained ₦2,469,030,738.90 from the Federal Ministry of Aviation through two companies—Broad Waters Resources Nigeria Ltd and Global Offshore Marine Ltd—under false claims of “Cost of Technical Supervision” and “Security Integrated and Logistics Support Services.”

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges. Their lawyers, Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, and Wale Balogun, SAN, applied for bail, citing their clients’ previous cooperation with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and voluntary appearance in court.

The prosecution did not oppose bail but urged the court to set a firm date for trial.

Justice Hamza Muazu granted the defendants bail on self-recognisance, ordered them to deposit their travel documents with the court, and seek judicial permission before any international travel.

The case has been adjourned to February 12, 2026, for commencement of hearing.
