Ogun Police Dismantle Criminal Rings, Six Arrested in Statewide Operation

The Ogun State Police Command has dismantled multiple criminal networks following coordinated raids across the state, resulting in the arrest of six suspects.

Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu confirmed the arrests on Tuesday, stating the operations targeted armed robbery, kidnapping, and cultist hideouts in Abeokuta, Sagamu, and Ijebu-Ode.

Intelligence-led units recovered two locally-made firearms, ammunition, and stolen property during the raids. Alamutu said the suspects are currently assisting investigators with information to apprehend remaining accomplices.

The police chief reassured residents that the command remains committed to flushing out criminal elements ahead of the festive season. He urged community members to provide credible intelligence to support ongoing security operations.

Local residents praised the police initiative, noting a recent spike in violent crime across the state. Community leaders called for sustained patrols and improved lighting in high-risk areas.

The suspects will face prosecution upon completion of investigations, the commissioner added.
