US-Iran MoU Proposes $300bn Reconstruction Aid and Sanctions Lifting

Details of a proposed Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran have emerged, reportedly including $300 billion in reconstruction aid and the lifting of economic sanctions.

The MoU, said to be under discussion, would mark a significant shift in Washington-Tehran relations following years of tension over Iran’s nuclear programme and regional influence.

According to sources familiar with the negotiations, the reconstruction package would target Iran’s aging infrastructure, energy sector, and industrial facilities damaged by decades of sanctions and underinvestment. In exchange, Iran would agree to enhanced nuclear monitoring and regional de-escalation measures.

The proposed sanctions relief would cover banking, oil exports, and trade restrictions that have crippled the Iranian economy.

Western diplomats have cautioned that any agreement remains contingent on verification mechanisms and phased implementation.

Regional allies, including Israel and Gulf states, have expressed concern over the scope of concessions. Iranian hardliners have meanwhile criticised any deal that limits the country’s missile programme.

Analysts say the agreement, if finalised, could reshape Middle Eastern geopolitics and global energy markets. Neither Washington nor Tehran has officially confirmed the specific figures.
