OSOGBO — Governor Ademola Adeleke has condemned the arrest of the Osun State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sunday Bisi, describing it as an attempt to intimidate his supporters and urging security agencies to release him immediately .
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Bisi was arrested at his residence in Ilesa shortly after returning from voting on Saturday. The governor, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said the PDP chairman was taken to an undisclosed location without any reason provided for his arrest .
CDA News Nigeria reports that Adeleke alleged that the All Progressives Congress was working with compromised security agents to restrict people from monitoring the collation of election results . He further claimed that the arrest was part of a broader plan to manipulate results at collation centres . “This latest sweep on my supporters, I have authoritatively learnt, is part of a broader plan to give the APC unhindered access to change results at collation centres and upturn our wins at the poll,” Adeleke stated .
The governor described any attempt to interfere with the collation process as an attack on democracy and urged those involved not to use state institutions to undermine the outcome of the election . He called for the immediate release of Bisi and other persons he described as “political prisoners” across the state . Adeleke reiterated that “election should be about the people freely giving their mandates to the person of their choice without threat or force” .
