PORT HARCOURT – The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a man for using social media to call for a military takeover of the Nigerian government.
The suspect, identified as Innocent Chukwuma, was arrested in Oyigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He allegedly used his X (formerly Twitter) handle, @TheAgroman, to rally the military to overthrow the civilian administration.
In posts seen by CDA News, Chukwuma described a coup as “needed” and urged the armed forces to “dispose of APC, suspend the Nigerian Government.”
He further claimed that “only the military can reset this country,” and called for public support for such a action.
A security source confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is currently in custody and cooperating with investigators.
The arrest highlights the government’s continued focus on national security and its stance against utterances considered capable of undermining democracy.
