MAIDUGURI — Air platforms of Operation HADIN KAI have reportedly destroyed two Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) gun trucks and inflicted casualties on fighters during precision air strikes in Aduwa village, Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State .
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the strikes were conducted on August 21, 2026, as part of sustained efforts to disrupt terrorist formations and restrict their freedom of movement across the Lake Chad axis. Intelligence sources indicated that all personnel observed at the targeted location were assessed to be ISWAP fighters .
CDA News Nigeria reports that one of the gun trucks was completely burnt in the attack. Following the strikes, surviving terrorists were observed attempting to evacuate casualties from the area, with some seen towing another damaged vehicle while moving wounded fighters around Gudumbali, apparently heading towards the Lake Chad region .
The exact number of fighters killed or wounded was not immediately established. The identities of any senior ISWAP commanders who may have been among the casualties are still being verified through further battle damage assessment and intelligence gathering .
Security sources noted the destruction of the gun trucks is expected to further reduce the group’s ability to conduct mobile attacks and transport fighters and weapons across the region. The operation demonstrates the continued importance of intelligence-led air operations in degrading terrorist concentrations and forcing surviving fighters to abandon established positions .
