The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed that it is investigating the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Moshood Jimoh, following corruption allegations made by social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
CDA News Nigeria reports that the Force said AIG Jimoh has been invited for questioning as part of an internal administrative review, while the criminal case related to the allegations is already before a court of competent jurisdiction.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the police also confirmed that VeryDarkMan had been invited to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, to provide evidence supporting the allegations he made publicly.
The Police explained that the criminal matter was investigated and prosecuted following legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), stressing that it would not allow public campaigns or media commentary to influence judicial proceedings.
CDA News gathered that VeryDarkMan had accused AIG Jimoh of corruption and alleged that officers under his supervision wrongfully implicated a businessman in connection with two murder cases in Lagos.
The Force reaffirmed its commitment to investigating credible allegations against its personnel through established disciplinary and investigative procedures, regardless of rank.
