LONDON — Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has ruled out the possibility of the Red Devils and Manchester City challenging for the Premier League title this season, while backing Arsenal to win the league.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Ferdinand made the assertion during a podcast appearance, pointing to what he called “big changes” at the other top clubs. He said, “I don’t see anyone being able to challenge Arsenal this season. They are the only team with stability. Everyone else has had big changes.”
Ferdinand highlighted Manchester City’s situation, noting the departures of manager Pep Guardiola and midfielder Rodri as critical losses. “Man City have lost their manager and the most important player in football, so I don’t see them challenging,” he said.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the former Manchester United defender also dismissed his former club’s chances, citing the arrival of new manager Thomas Tuchel as part of a transitional period. He also stressed the importance of Arsenal keeping key players like Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Gabriel Magalhaes fit and available.
