A faction within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the recent defection of elected officials and criticized certain court rulings, accusing both of deepening the party’s internal crisis.
The group, operating under the banner “PDP Patriots,” spoke at a press conference in Abuja on Monday. They reaffirmed their support for the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Ambassador Iliya Damagum, describing it as the party’s legitimate leadership.
The group accused defectors of betraying the electorate’s mandate and criticized some judges for delivering what they called “predictable” rulings that harm the party. They cited a recent court order suspending the party’s planned convention as an example.
The faction called on the party’s Board of Trustees to intervene urgently to resolve the ongoing leadership crisis and ensure unity.
