Troops Rescue 74 NYSC Members from Possible Abduction in Borno

(Maiduguri, Nigeria) – Security forces have rescued 74 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from potential abduction by terrorist groups in Borno State.

The rescue occurred Tuesday night along the Buratai-Kamuya road, a known hotspot for Boko Haram and ISWAP activities. Military personnel were alerted through CCTV monitoring after the corps members’ vehicles experienced mechanical failure in the dangerous area.

A military source confirmed that troops swiftly moved to the location and evacuated all 74 corps members (36 males and 38 females) to safety at the Buratai military base. The rescue prevented what officials believe was an imminent abduction attempt.

The corps members had been traveling without military escort despite the high-security risk in the area.
