ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has submitted 32 ambassadorial nominations to the Senate for confirmation, including former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, former presidential aide Reno Omokri, and former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode.
The nomination list, comprising 15 career diplomats and 17 non-career appointees, also features former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, both allies of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. The diverse list includes ten women among the nominees destined for strategic diplomatic postings.
According to presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the ambassadors will be assigned to countries maintaining “excellent and strategic bilateral relations” with Nigeria, including China, India, South Korea, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as international organizations like the United Nations and African Union.
The nominations represent President Tinubu’s latest diplomatic appointments following three earlier submissions to the Senate for confirmation.
