Ghanaian authorities have deported 42 Nigerian nationals over alleged involvement in prostitution, human trafficking, and immigration-related offences, Ghana’s Immigration Service confirmed on Monday.
The deportees, comprising both men and women, were arrested during a coordinated security operation targeting illegal activities across parts of Accra and other major cities. Officials said the individuals were found to have violated Ghana’s residency and work permit regulations.
According to immigration sources, the operation was part of broader efforts to curb rising social vices and enforce immigration laws, particularly involving foreign nationals operating without valid documentation.
The deported Nigerians were handed over to officials of the Nigerian High Commission in Accra and are expected to undergo further screening upon arrival in Nigeria.
Nigerian authorities have urged citizens living abroad to comply strictly with host-country laws, warning that violations could strain diplomatic relations and undermine regional cooperation within the ECOWAS bloc.
