Nigerian Military Deploys Special Security Measures Ahead of Christmas

The Nigerian military has announced the rollout of enhanced anti-attack security measures nationwide ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, aimed at preventing terrorist attacks and other security threats.

According to the Defence Headquarters, the measures include increased troop deployments, intensified intelligence operations, aerial surveillance, and coordinated patrols with other security agencies across flashpoints and major urban centres.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, said the military remains on high alert to ensure the safety of citizens during the festive period, particularly in areas prone to insurgency, banditry, and communal violence.

He assured Nigerians that the Armed Forces are working closely with the police, intelligence agencies, and local vigilante groups to maintain peace, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

The military also warned criminal elements against exploiting the festive season, stressing that security forces are fully prepared to respond swiftly to any threat.
