FG Has Approached Turkey for Military Assistance – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has announced that the Federal Government has approached Turkey for military assistance to combat Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.

Speaking during a meeting with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Friday, Tinubu said the move follows delays in receiving four attack helicopters ordered from the United States.

“Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive. We have approached Turkey for assistance,” the President stated.

He also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to establishing state and community police once the National Assembly completes the required legislative process.

The announcement comes after recent joint Nigeria–US airstrikes on ISIS targets in Sokoto, which have drawn mixed reactions, including criticism from the PDP and calls from Sheikh Ahmad Gumi to halt military cooperation with the US.
