Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), has matriculated a total of 8,603 students for the 2026 academic session, comprising 7,059 undergraduates, 215 sandwich students, and 1,938 postgraduate students.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Itodo charged the new students to uphold the legacy of the university’s namesake—late statesman Chief Joseph Sarwuan Tarka—by focusing on problem-solving, innovation, and academic rigour.
He warned against social vices such as cultism, examination malpractice, and drug abuse, emphasizing the institution’s zero-tolerance policy.
Prof. Itodo expressed confidence that the students will graduate as “Tarka’s Giants,” equipped to contribute meaningfully to national development.
