MAKURDI – At least three people were killed in separate attacks on communities in Benue State on Saturday, according to local reports.
In Kwande Local Government Area, armed herdsmen ambushed and killed two traders returning from the Jato-Aka market to Nzaav community.
A former local official, Lawrence Akerigba, confirmed the “horrific” incident, stating the victims’ bodies were found with severe wounds. The Kwande LGA Chairman, Yarkwan Tersua, appealed for federal intervention, citing recurring violence.
In a separate incident in Zaki Biam, Logo LGA, suspected bandits shot and killed a young female POS operator. Eyewitnesses reported the assailants stole cash from her business before fleeing.
Investigations into both attacks are ongoing. The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer had not issued an official statement at the time of reporting.
