Adeleke Tasks New Osun CP on Impartial Policing, Public Confidence

OSOGBO — Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has charged the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, to restore public confidence, ensure impartial policing and improve security coordination across the state .

CDA News Nigeria gathered that Adeleke made the call on Monday when Zungura paid a courtesy visit to the governor following his assumption of duty as the new Commissioner of Police in Osun . In a statement posted on his X handle, the governor said the state government was ready to support the police command “without any strings attached,” but expected the force to uphold fairness and professionalism in the discharge of its responsibilities .

CDA News Nigeria reports that Adeleke noted the meeting was particularly significant as the state continues its efforts to promote peace, reconciliation and stability following the recent governorship election . The governor urged Zungura to view his appointment as an opportunity to serve the people and build a police system that serves all citizens without discrimination .

Zungura reportedly assured the governor of his commitment to fostering a safer and more secure environment in the state, and expressed appreciation for the governor’s support and guidance . Adeleke reiterated his administration’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for security agencies, adding that the police and people of Osun should work together in unity to ensure lasting peace and order .
