…Super Eagles Host Barea in Uyo, Morocco, Egypt, Algeria Also in Action
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series continues today, Friday, September 25, 2026, with fourteen Match Day 1 fixtures scheduled across the continent, including Nigeria’s Group L opener against Madagascar.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the Super Eagles will host Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, with kick-off scheduled for 5:00 PM Nigerian time.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Nigeria are drawn in Group L alongside Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau, and co-host Tanzania, who are already guaranteed a place at the 2027 AFCON finals. The arrangement means only the highest-placed team among Nigeria, Madagascar, and Guinea-Bissau will secure the remaining qualification spot from the group.
The Super Eagles will be without Victor Osimhen after the Galatasaray striker was ruled out while recovering from a muscle injury, with Taiwo Awoniyi brought in as his replacement. Despite Osimhen’s absence, coach Éric Chelle still has attacking options including Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare, and Akor Adams.
Madagascar arrived in Nigeria on Monday under coach Corentin Martins, with their squad including experienced players such as Rayan Raveloson, Marco Ilaimaharitra, and Loïc Lapoussin.

Other notable fixtures on Friday include Morocco hosting Gabon at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, with the Atlas Lions beginning their title defence under new coach Mohamed Ouahbi.
