APC Abia Fires Back at Otti Administration, Vows to Resist Judicial Intimidation Ahead of 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has issued a strongly-worded statement condemning what it describes as a deliberate campaign of judicial intimidation and harassment by the Alex Otti administration against critics and opposition members.

In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the APC alleged that over ten opposition members have been dragged before courts in Abuja, Lagos, and Abia State simply for demanding accountability and transparency from the state government.

Aguoru revealed that the administration recently threatened him with legal action for performing his legitimate duty of scrutinizing government policies — a move he described as “unacceptable and laughably futile.”

The party noted the irony in Governor Otti’s posture, pointing out that he built his political profile as an opposition figure who openly criticized successive governments — exercising the same constitutional rights he now allegedly seeks to deny others.

“Democracy thrives on criticism, scrutiny, and accountability. Those entrusted with public office must be prepared to answer questions from the people they govern,” the statement read.

The APC called on the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Chief Justice of Nigeria to monitor Abia’s judicial system and ensure courts are not weaponized against political opponents.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to rebuilding its structures, warning that no level of intimidation would derail its plans to reclaim Abia State’s governorship in 2027.

“The people of Abia State deserve better, and no campaign of fear will silence those determined to speak truth to power,” Aguoru declared.
