APC Fires Back: “Obi and Kwankwaso Are Unserious Politicians Just Hunting for a Free Platform”

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a stinging attack on Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, with a party spokesman dismissing both opposition figures as unserious politicians who are merely shopping for a free platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC spokesman argued that the ongoing defection talks and political repositioning by both Obi and Kwankwaso reflect not genuine commitment to national development, but a desperate scramble for relevance and political survival in a rapidly shifting electoral landscape.

According to the spokesman, neither Obi nor Kwankwaso demonstrated the seriousness, structure, or grassroots capacity required to mount a credible challenge against President Bola Tinubu and the APC in 2027, describing their movements as political theatrics designed to attract attention rather than deliver governance solutions.

The APC further challenged both opposition leaders to clearly define their ideological direction and policy offerings to Nigerians, rather than focusing on party-hopping and alliance-shopping as a substitute for genuine political work.

The remarks have drawn sharp reactions from supporters of both Obi and Kwankwaso, who accused the APC of being rattled by the growing momentum of opposition realignment ahead of what promises to be a fiercely contested 2027 election cycle.

Political watchers say the APC’s response signals increasing anxiety within the ruling party over the potential impact of a united and reorganised opposition movement.
