In a bold political move, the governorship candidate of the National Development Congress (NDC) in Kano State has announced the son of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate for the 2027 election.
The Kano NDC gov candidate picks Kwankwaso’s son, Abdulrahman Kwankwaso, to strengthen the party’s foothold in the politically strategic state.
Announcing the decision at a press conference in Kano on Monday, the candidate, Alhaji Bello Shehu, said the younger Kwankwaso brings youth appeal, political experience, and grassroots connection.
“Abdulrahman represents a new generation of leadership. His father’s political legacy aside, he has proven himself in grassroots mobilization,” Shehu stated.
Political observers see the move as an attempt to draw support from the Kwankwasiyya movement, one of the most formidable political structures in Kano.
The NDC is positioning itself as a strong alternative ahead of the general elections.
