President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) has emerged victorious in the APC Presidential Primary Election conducted across all 8,809 wards in Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT on Saturday, May 23, 2026, and will today, Sunday, May 24, 2026, formally receive the APC Certificate of Return and the party’s presidential flag at a grand ceremony in Abuja.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga confirmed the development, stating: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Sunday receive the certificate and flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.”
The presentation ceremony will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja following the completion of the nationwide direct primary held across 8,809 wards on Saturday, with the APC presidential primary committee formally presenting the certificate and flag after the official nationwide collation of results.
The President recorded a sweeping victory across several states, with his sole challenger Stanley Osifo recording zero votes in multiple states. In Rivers State alone, Tinubu polled an extraordinary 280,468 votes, while Osifo received zero votes across all 23 LGAs of the state. ELANHUB MEDIA
In Abia State, President Tinubu won with 161,005 votes, while in Sokoto he secured 301,000 votes — reflecting the massive nationwide mobilisation of APC members who trooped out in their millions to endorse the President’s second term bid.
The grand ceremony today is expected to be attended by APC governors, members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), the National Working Committee (NWC), National Assembly lawmakers, and all key APC party stakeholders from across the country. Punch
