IKWUANO, ABIA STATE — A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ikwuano, Uche Dick Usuwa, has resigned his membership from the party, stepping down from his role within the Ikwuano PDP caucus leadership.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Usuwa, a key figure in the party’s grassroots structure in Ikwuano Local Government Area, officially tendered his resignation after weeks of consultations with political associates and family members.
His exit is widely seen as a significant setback for the PDP in Ikwuano, where he has long been regarded as an influential mobilizer within the party’s ranks.
Sources close to the former caucus leader revealed that his decision was influenced by unresolved internal crises within the party at both the state and national levels.
The lingering leadership disputes, according to him, have made it increasingly difficult for committed members to remain aligned with the party’s ideals.
Although Usuwa has yet to formally declare his next political destination, speculation is mounting that he may be considering a move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has recently attracted a number of defectors in Abia State.
Political observers say his resignation underscores the growing wave of defections and realignments shaping the political landscape in the state.
More developments are expected as the situation unfolds.
