Bandits have killed a commercial driver and abducted eight passengers in an attack along the Hayin-Dam–Katari road in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State .
The incident occurred on Saturday evening around 4:12 pm at the Sabon-Kurutu junction. The driver, identified as Joshua Atara, was shot dead instantly when gunmen emerged from the bush and opened fire on the vehicle .
A source told DAILY POST that after killing the driver, the attackers forced approximately eight passengers into the forest . A community leader from the area, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the attack, noting that the bandits specifically targeted the driver to force the vehicle to a halt .
The Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, could not be reached for comments on the incident at the time of filing this report .
This attack adds to growing concerns over the safety of travelers along highways in Kaduna State, where armed groups have frequently targeted commuters in recent months.
