Bandits Kill Three, Set Houses Ablaze in Niger — Police

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed that armed bandits killed three persons and razed several houses during an attack on a community in the state.

According to the police, the assailants stormed the area in the early hours of the attack, shooting indiscriminately and setting residential buildings on fire before fleeing the scene.

The incident left residents in panic as many were forced to abandon their homes in search of safety, while property worth millions of naira was reportedly destroyed in the inferno.

Police authorities disclosed that security operatives were immediately deployed to the affected community to restore calm and prevent further attacks.

The command also assured residents that efforts were underway to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Community leaders have called for increased security presence in vulnerable areas, urging both the federal and state governments to intensify efforts to combat banditry and protect rural communities.

The latest attack adds to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Niger State, where residents continue to grapple with recurring incidents of banditry and violent crimes.

Investigations into the attack are ongoing, while affected families have appealed for urgent humanitarian assistance and support to rebuild their lives.
