ABUJA – Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the brother of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been remanded in Kuje Prison alongside his legal representative, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor.
The ruling was delivered by a magistrate’s court in Abuja on Wednesday, ordering their detention until Friday.
According to sources, the group was brought before the Kuje Magistrate Court without access to their legal counsel. It was reported that no legal representation was permitted during the court proceedings, a development that has raised serious legal concerns.
Before the hearing, Prince Kanu, Barr. Ejimakor, and others were allegedly held at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) facility before being transported to court this morning.
The circumstances surrounding their arrest and the charges they are facing have not been immediately disclosed.
