Nnamdi Kanu Writes to Trump, Alleges “Hidden Genocide” in Eastern Nigeria

Detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has written a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump, alleging a “hidden genocide against Judeo-Christians in Eastern Nigeria.”

The Nnamdi Kanu letter to Trump, dated November 6, 2025, was sent from his detention at the DSS headquarters in Abuja. Kanu’s special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, confirmed the delivery of the four-page document through the U.S. Embassy.

In the letter, Kanu commended Trump’s recent warning about protecting Nigeria’s Christian population and appealed for urgent American intervention. He cited several military operations and alleged massacres, referencing reports from Amnesty International and the UN to support his claims.

Kanu called for a U.S.-led independent inquiry, congressional hearings, targeted sanctions on Nigerian officials, and support for an internationally-supervised referendum for the Igbo people.

The letter was strategically timed ahead of Kanu’s court hearing on November 7, 2025, where his terrorism trial is set to resume.
