6. Bandits kill Chief Imam, three others in Sokoto
Suspected bandits have killed the Chief Imam of Kuda-Kuda village in Goronyo LGA of Sokoto State. The cleric identified as Liman Audu was killed alongside three persons, while others were abducted during the attack which happened in the early hours of Wednesday .
7. Sokoto court sentences three men, including Nigerien, to death for terrorism
A Sokoto State High Court has sentenced three men, including a Nigerien, to death by hanging following their conviction on charges of terrorism and arms proliferation. The convicts were apprehended on June 13, 2025, by the DSS Counter-Terrorism Unit in connection with cross-border crimes, arms trafficking and terrorism .
8. Five-storey building collapses in Port Harcourt, one dead
Tragedy struck on Wednesday morning when a five-storey building under construction collapsed along Odili Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, leaving one person dead and several others trapped beneath the rubble. As of 7:30 pm, rescue operations were still ongoing, with victims believed to be trapped in the debris .
