5. Troops rescue abducted wife of retired General in Abuja
Troops of the Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued Mrs Adonkie, the wife of Brig. Gen. Basil Adonkie (rtd.), hours after she was abducted from her residence in Abuja. Mrs Adonkie was abducted at about 10:30 pm on September 1 .

6. Ebonyi governor vows to remove LG chairmen who fail to secure APC victory
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi has vowed that any local government chairman who fails to secure victory for the APC in the 2027 elections will be removed. He said this in Abakaliki during the inauguration of new chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of the 13 LGAs .

7. INEC warns AI-driven disinformation threatens 2027 elections
INEC has warned that artificial intelligence-driven disinformation poses a serious threat to the credibility of the 2027 general elections. INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan also disclosed that the commission was conducting a comprehensive audit of its electoral technology systems .

The NDC has disowned 10 candidates published by INEC for the 2027 Anambra State House of Assembly elections, insisting that it neither nominated the persons nor submitted their Form EC9E documents. The party demanded an immediate electronic audit of INEC’s nomination portal .

A Celestial Church of Christ evangelist, Abidemi Odukoya, and his wife, Adenike, have reportedly died in separate circumstances following an alleged domestic altercation at their residence in the Akinode/Ibogun community, Ogun State .
